Gift Registry FAQs

Your Lifafa won't be accepting incoming contributions post the end date. Be rest assured that all existing contributions in your Lifafa can always be redeemed via one of our redemption mechanisms.

In case your Lifafa reaches the prescribed balance limit or if an incoming contribution would take the overall balance above the prescribed limit, our system will automatically decline incoming contributions and prompt you to redeem some of your accumulated funds. The person trying to send you a contribution will also be intimated about the same.

There is no limit on the amount you wish to set as your target/goal amount for your Lifafa. However, as all Lifafa’s are essentially e-wallets (pre-paid instruments) and are governed by limits as prescribed by Reserve Bank of India and may change from time to time. Currently, the following limits apply on net balances across your overall account on the site (cumulative across all Lifafa’s). Overall net balance across all Lifafa’s in your account should not exceed Rs. 100,000 (1 Lac). This only applies to the amount of money lying in total across all your Lifafa’s and does not apply to money redeemed. You are free and encouraged to redeem money from your Lifafa with one of our redemption partners or transfer the same to your bank account at regular intervals to ensure that your balance stays within the above limit.

Lifafa.com operates as an e-wallet (Pre-paid instrument) on the backend and is built on a secure platform powered by a leading financial institution (Yes Bank). As per Reserve Bank of India regulations (RBI circular RBI/DPSS/2017-18/58) issued on October 11th, 2017 it is mandatory for customers to furnish their KYC details in order to maximise usage of their Lifafa (pre-paid e-wallet) and enjoy a hassle-free experience.

All Lifafa’s that are published are active and can receive incoming contributions. Once a Lifafa end date is reached its status changes to ‘Unpublished’ which means that the Lifafa can no longer accept contributions. You can also manually choose to unpublish your Lifafa or re-publish one by changing the Lifafa end date.

This is the date until which time your Lifafa can receive contributions. Post your Lifafa end date, you will not be able to receive any further contributions to your Lifafa. However, you can always change this end date by editing your Lifafa from your dashboard.

A private Lifafa can only be viewed and contributed to by those who you have shared the link with via any of the share options. It is not searchable via the search function on Lifafa.com. A public Lifafa on the other hand can be viewed and is able to receive contributions from anyone who may search for your Lifafa by name, title or occasion category on Lifafa.com. Anyone can contribute to a public Lifafa. Making your Lifafa public will usually involve a 24 hour wait time so as to ensure enough time for our team to verify the content of the same.

Lifafa is an online platform that lets you create cash funds towards an item and/or experience you may wish to receive as a gift for an upcoming occasion. On Lifafa you can let your friends know about your impending celebration, share details about your dream gift and get your friends and family to pool-in towards it . You can use the cash collected in your Lifafa to buy a voucher from our various brand partners or simply cash it out to your bank account.

This is super simple. Start by signing up with with either your email id/mobile number or social profiles on Lifafa.com. Once you have signed up and logged in click the “Create a Lifafa” button. Select your occasion or choose a custom one. Personalise your Lifafa by providing details about your upcoming event along with pictures and links to videos if any. Don’t forget to specify what gift you would use your Lifafa for and the amount you wish to collect towards that dream gift. Hit preview once you are done to view what your Lifafa invite will look like to the people you share it with. Hit Publish once you are satisfied and share it with your friends and family through Whatsapp, Facebook, Google Plus or Email. You can also share your link with them through any other medium you wish.

You have up to 1 year from your last contribution to utilize the funds from your Lifafa post which your Lifafa will be temporarily blocked. You can write to us on care@lifafa.com to unblock the same. In the event we do not hear from you for over 3 years from your last contribution, your funds will be forfeited and you will not be entitled to the same. Rest assured, adequate intimation will be given before this extreme step.

In the rare occurrence of such an event, please get in touch with us via our web chat or on care@lifafa.com and we will be happy to help. Sometimes, a Lifafa maybe blocked due to suspicious activity as noticed by our security partners. This is for the safety of your money and our other users.

Creating a Lifafa is completely free. However, we do charge a small fee for incoming contributions. You may choose to bear the fee yourself or let the contributors bear it at the time of contribution. See Rates. This has been done only because our payment partners charge us a small fee to ensure a safe and secure payment gateway.

Lifafa has partnered with Yes bank and houses all cash collected in their secure infrastructure. Rest assured that every Lifafa created is safe and secured with the highest level of cyber security measures and systems which are audited from time to time by the external agencies. We genuinely do not share your data with anyone.

Yes, you can edit your Lifafa anytime. You may have to wait for sometime for the administrator to approve the changes.

At Lifafa we do not restrict you, so invite as many as you like through Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter, E-mail or Google+. You can also simply share the link or ask them to come to the site and look up your Lifafa by its title or creator name in the event it is set to public. The only thing you cannot do is uninvite people you have invited!

You have complete control over your Lifafa through your dashboard. You can edit your Lifafa, monitor completion, send thank you messages to individual contributors and redeem them from your dashboard.

You will receive email notifications as and when you receive contributions. You will also get regular email updates on the Lifafa completion status.

Not a problem at all. You can always do one of the following: 1) Redeem whatever you have collected via one of our redemption options. 2) Top-it up yourself. 3) Extend the date, share it once again and nudge your friends to check it out.

Full KYC is physical submission of attested documents to get unlimited Lifafa usage limits in your account. As per Reserve Bank of India regulations (RBI circular RBI/DPSS/2017-18/58) issued on October 11, 2017 full KYC is necessary in case you wish to use Lifafa for more than Rs. 200,000 (2 Lac.) per year.

You can select the forgot password under the login option on the home page to retrieve your account in case you forget the details or the credentials.

Lifafa Concierge would always try it’s best to keep you happy but in case we disappoint you then please reach out to us on care@lifafa.com and our complaints team would be there to resolve your issue. Lifafa has formalized “Customer Grievance Redressal Policy” which is available on this website. All disputes arising out shall be subject to this policy.

Monetary gifts are taxable only if the aggregate sum of money received during the year is more than Rs. 50,000/-. This applies to monetary gifts received by cash, cheque, DD etc.

In the following cases, the money received will be exempt from tax • Money received on account of your marriage only. • Money received from your spouse, brother/sister, brother/sister of your spouse, parents, brother/sister of either parent, lineal ascendant or descendant of individual or spouse • Money received by way of an inheritance under a will • Money received in contemplation of death of the payer • Money received by specific local authorities, foundations, universities or hospitals that fall under sections 10(20) and 10(23C) of the income tax act.

If the friend is not a relative as defined in the list of exceptions and the event is not your marriage, then all gifts received from such friends are subject to tax.

Lifafa is purely an online platform that facilitates the exchange of cash gifts for an occasion and is not responsible to deduct income taxes on behalf of the receiver for incoming contributions. This responsibility lies solely with the Lifafa creator and Lifafa disclaims all liabilities from disputes arising out of the same.

Contributing to a Lifafa is really simple. If you have a link sent to you by a Lifafa creator aka a family member or friend, simply click on it, browse through the page, decide on an amount you would like to gift and proceed to pay. If the creator has made the lifafa public then you can simply search it from our homepage via the search bar or simply click gift with Lifafa and follow the instructions.

Yes, you can but only to those Lifafa’s where their creators have made them ‘public’. For all Lifafa’s that are public, you can search for them via the search on top of the homepage or click ‘Gift with Lifafa’ and follow the instructions. A ‘public’ Lifafa can be found via its title or creator first or last name.

You can pay using either via net banking by selecting your bank from the list or through your credit/debit card.

You will get an invoice on your email with the contribution details for each contribution you make. The person whose Lifafa you have contributed to will also be intimated and can access the funds after 48 hours.

This is the standard time taken by your payment processor to send us the funds into our bank account post which we can credit the same to the Lifafa you have contributed to.

Gifting with Lifafa is always fun so you can add a personalized message to your contribution. We also give you the option of carrying a physical envelope signifying you have gifted via Lifafa so that you don’t have to go to your friend's occasion empty-handed.

Your Lifafa contribution is confidential. It will only be visible to you and the creator of the Lifafa you have contributed to.

At this time Lifafa is only available to those having a general bank account India (not available on NRE/NRO accounts). However we are working hard to make Lifafa a global cash gifting platform accessible to all no matter where you reside. Stay tuned.

Redeeming your Lifafa for a voucher from one of our partners is easy. Just hit the ‘Redeem’ button on your dashboard beside your Lifafa amount to head to our redemption page where you will find a host of options that use can use your Lifafa cash on. Use the menu on the left along with various filter options to narrow down on your choices. Click ‘Details’ to view specific information about the listing. Here you will also find information with regards to using the voucher at our partners' outlet along with terms and conditions for the same. Please ensure you review those carefully. Once you have made a decision hit the ‘Redeem’ button on the listing page and input the generated OTP to complete the process. Your voucher code along with steps to use it at the vendor outlet (physical or online) will be sent to you via e-mail. Please ensure you do not share the email with anyone as vouchers once redeemed or used cannot be refunded.

Unfortunately not. Once you request a redemption, we issue you the selected voucher and move your funds to the vendor partner almost instantly. We cannot reverse this process and hence will be unable to provide you with a refund. However, some vendors may allow you to use the voucher for products/services other than as specified on the voucher within their ecosystem. Please check the terms and conditions before redeeming the vouchers for more information.

Redeeming your Lifafa amount to your bank account can be done as follows: 1) Click the ‘Transfer to bank account’ option. 2) Add your bank details (account number, ifsc etc.) or select a previously stored one. 3) Enter the amount you wish to transfer. 4) Review the charges. 5) Hit ‘Proceed to transfer’ .

We recommend you allow up to 48 hours for the amount to reflect in your account. Post this time frame if you still haven’t received your funds, give us a call or send us an email and we will look into it on priority.

Lifafa is a small but passionate team, dedicated to improving the way the world gifts cash. We strive to provide most of our services for free but still need to pay the bills, keep the machines turning, secure your cash, motivate our team and celebrate small successes. All these good things are seldom free and we need some support from you guys to keep us going. We charge a meager 3% on withdrawals to your bank account. Buying a voucher, on the other hand, will not cost you a dime extra.

Most certainly. The more gifts a Lifafa helps you fulfill the merrier. You can use your Lifafa amount as you wish. You can redeem part of it for a voucher, withdraw the rest or simply keep some and choose another voucher at a later date.

In such an unlikely event, you will have to get in touch with the voucher partner directly and intimate them about your situation. Alternatively, you can also give us a call or drop us an email and we will try and best to help you out. No promises though!

No. All products and services need to bought on the partner outlets or website. The voucher is simply a means to make a payment at their outlet. Remember that your voucher does not guarantee a purchase or booking. Please check availability with the respective vendor partner before redeeming your Lifafa for a voucher.

Unfortunately not. Once you request a redemption, we issue you the selected voucher and move your funds to the vendor partner almost instantly. We cannot reverse this process and hence will be unable to provide you with the option of moving the funds to your account.

Please call us or reach out to us on care@lifafa.com immediately and we will ensure that whatever the issue, it is sorted out as soon as possible.

Lifafa does not wish to stop you from withdrawing your cash gifts to your bank account. However, as per Reserve Bank of India regulations (RBI circular RBI/DPSS/2017-18/58) issued on October 11, 2017 single fund withdrawal transaction shall not exceed Rs. 5000 per transaction. The monthly withdrawal transaction limit for eKYC Customers is Rs. 10000 per month and for KYC Customers is Rs. 20000 per month. It may take up to 48 hours for the funds to reflect in your account.

This should not happen as we have collaborated with YES bank to facilitate the transaction, but in an event, for any reason whatsoever we would have it checked and credit the source account back with the funds debited.

In an unforeseen event if this happens then Lifafa would communication would be sent out to all the customers with active Lifafa’s in advance and they can redeem the outstanding balance by transferring the amount to their bank account.
